Week One: Introduce yourself and describe your teaching experience

I am between my first and second year of T&T. I have been teaching in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric, first as a GTA and now as an adjunct, since 2024.

I enjoy teaching in Writing and Rhetoric as I have been able to introduce students to valuable humanistic concepts, specifically concerning media, that they might not otherwise receive. I would not mind a future in a program like DWR, but I aspire to teach media or new media studies in a way that allows me to focus on visual culture and critical making.

I am, as I describe it to many, AI-gnostic. I evidently have strong feelings about the uncritical, “loose” usage of AI, but have found it valuable in learning to code under what I understand to be reflective of the emergent “distant coding” practice. I have also come to understand the usage of AI from the student perspective–specifically as it concerns international students, or those who communicate in English as a second language, and how the potential for AI to aid in translation and meaning-making.

Likewise, I have used Claude to work on many projects and extend my literacy of CSS and JS, more specifically, which one may see on my website, here Links to an external site.. However, there is presently a bit of dust kicked up around there.
